Hi Reader!

It's hot out there and you're busy. So I just wanted to share a gentle reminder to keep up with your SPF—and a couple of simple facts to help you feel more confident about choosing and using sunscreen.

☀️ 1. Mineral sunscreen starts working right away.

Unlike chemical sunscreen, mineral (physical) sunscreen protects your skin as soon as you apply it. There's no need to wait 15–20 minutes before heading outside or into the water

That's especially helpful with kids who are eager to jump in the pool, but honestly, it's a win for adults too. Apply it, let it dry for a minute if you can, and you're ready to go.

☀️ 2. A Higher SPF isn't automatically better.

It's easy to assume a bigger number means dramatically better protection, but that's not really how SPF works.

SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks about 98%. That's a very small increase in protection...

Higher-SPF formulas can also require additional UV filters or other ingredients to achieve those numbers, so I generally recommend focusing on finding a sunscreen you'll actually enjoy wearing and remember to reapply.
